INTRAMURAL FIELD RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

General Information for Players, Coaches and Referees

 

  • Basic Soccer uniform consists of Shirt, Shorts, Shinguards, Socks and Shoes.
  • The uniform shirt must be the outer layer of clothing.  Any extra layers must be worn under the uniform shirt. Shirts must be tucked in. No jewelry other than emergency medical identification can be worn.
  • Shorts should be athletic shorts.  “Street shorts” and cutoffs should not be worn.  Long pants are permitted, but they must be sweatpants.
  • All players must wear shinguards.  Socks must be worn over and must fully cover the shinguards.
  • Shoes must be either Soccer cleats or sneakers.
  • Goalkeepers must wear a shirt that is a different color than the red and white uniform shirt.
  • All games are expected to start at their scheduled time. Games should end no later than the scheduled starting time of the next game on each field.
  • Only a designated club official or referee may alter the number of players specified on the field for any age group.
  • If a team is more than one player short, the other team must lend them a player or players. Under no circumstances may any team play with more than a one player disadvantage.
  • US Soccer has passed down to all Youth Governing bodies a ban on head balls for players 11 years old and younger. Deliberately heading a ball in Little Neck Intramurals is now a rules a violation. The first instance in each game for each team will result in the stoppage of play, a verbal warning issued, and the game will be restarted with a drop ball. Subsequent infractions will result in an indirect free kick awarded to the opposing team.

     A head ball is defined as a ball played with a player’s head that he/she could not avoid.


DIVISION REGULATIONS

 

PEE WEE FIELDS:

Number of Players on Field: 4 v 4 - 3 field players + Goalkeeper
Minimum Roster Size:   5 players.
Maximum Roster Size: 9 players.
Rules: United States Soccer Federation

rules  as modified for offside, field 

size, ball size, substitutes and the     number of players.

Offside:          Rule will not be in effect.
Ball Size #3.
Goal Size: 4’ x 6’ or “Pugg” style goals
Field Size:    Approximately 20 x 30 yards
Penalty kick: No penalty kicks. A penal foul in the

penalty area shall result in a direct free kick from the penalty area line closest to the point of the foul.

 

Distance of Opponents on

Free Kick:
5 Yards.
Substitutes: On any stop of play either team may 

substitute as many players as desired. There is no limit on how many times each player may enter  and leave the game. NOTE: When a team desires to substitute, they must always make a request for substitutions to the referee. Substitutes must wait for the referee’s signal to enter the game

Coaches on Field: Coach allowed on the Field in the

DEFENSIVE HALF ONLY

Length of Game: 4 – 8 minute quarters.

 


BANTAM FIELDS

 

Number of Players on Field: 6, 5 field players and a Goalkeeper.
Minimum Roster Size: 7 players.
Maximum Roster Size: 10 players
Rules: United States Soccer Federation rules as modified for offside, field size, ball size, substitutes and the number of players.
Offside: Rule will not be in effect.
Ball Size: #4
Goal Size: 6’ x 12’.
Field Size: Approximately 30 x 50 yards.
Penalty kick Distance: Half the distance between the goal area and penalty lines. Approximately 7 yards.
Distance of Opponents on Free Kick: 7 Yards.
Substitutes: Both teams may substitute after a goal, on either team’s injury, at half time, on either team’s goal kick and on either team’s throw in. There is no limit on how many times each player may enter and leave the game.  NOTE: When a team desires to substitute, they must always make a request for substitutions to the referee. Substitutes must wait for the referee’s signal to enter the game
Coaches on Field: No coaches are permitted on the field. No one is allowed to stand behind the goal line. Coaches are of course permitted to enter the field of play for an injury, but the coach must be signaled on to the field by the referee.
Length of Game: 2 – 20 minute halves.

  


JUNIOR FIELDS

 

Number of Players on Field:    8, 7 field players and a Goalkeeper.
Minimum Roster Size: 7 players.
Maximum Roster Size: 14 players
Rules: United States Soccer Federation rules as modified for field size, ball size, substitutes and the number of players.
  Offside

 

rule will be in effect.
Ball Size: #4.
Goal Size: 7’ x 21’.
Field Size: Approximately 50 x 70 yards.
Penalty kick Distance: 8 Yards.
Distance of Opponents on Free Kick: 8 Yards.
Substitutes: Both teams may substitute after a goal, on either team’s injury, at half time, on either team’s goal kick and on your own team’s throw in. There is no limit on how many times each player may enter and leave the game.  NOTE: When a team desires to substitute, they must always make a request for substitutions to the referee. Substitutes must wait for the referee’s signal to enter the game
Coaches on Field: No coaches are permitted on the field. No one is allowed to stand behind the goal line. Coaches are of course permitted to enter the field of play for an injury, but the coach must be signaled on to the field by the referee.
Length of Game: 2 – 25 minute halves.
