Little Neck Douglaston Youth Club

In a final between two Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) teams with very lengthy team names on Saturday, June 10, Little Neck/Douglaston Metropolitan FC shut out the Cold Spring Harbor/Huntington Stallions, 4-0, to win Boys-Under-13 Arch Cup Gold. The game was played at Stringham Park in LaGrange.

Greg Gotlieb, Aryan Khatri, Max Pisarek and Christian Gomes scored the Little Neck/Douglaston goals while keepers Alex Kobsa and Kishan Reddy shared the shutout in net.

“We lost to them, 3-1, earlier in the year,” explained Little Neck/Douglaston coach Larry Salazar. “We have really come together as a team. Each individual played their role today and everybody played their best game of the year!”

Cold Spring Harbor/Huntington received the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award as determined by the game officials. Amoroso started the LIJSL Sportsmanship Program in 1980, it has since been copied around the world and he spoke about the benefits of Fair Play across the United States.
