    Intramural - Spring 2014

    03/24/2014, 9:00pm EDT
    By LNDYC

    Parents,

Little Neck Soccer would like to welcome you and your children to the upcoming season.  We are all looking forward to another great season and hope Mother Nature cooperates after a brutally cold and long winter.

A couple of logistical items to mention so that we can ensure a successful season:

    • This season starts this Saturday (3/29) and continues until June 7th.  June 14th is a rain date.  We will not have games on Saturday April 19th (Easter) and May 24th (Memorial Day).
    • Please contact your child's coach in regards to practices.
    • The plan is to have another end of the year picnic on Sunday June 22nd.  So please save the date.  More details will be shared closer to the date.
    • The Intramural rosters, games and practice schedules are posted on our website under the Intramural site .
    • All games will be played on Saturdays.
    • We ask that all children arrive at the fields 20 minutes prior to the scheduled game time.  Having players arrive 5,10,15 minutes late really takes away from the game day experience and makes it more difficult for the coaches to manage.
    • All our coaches are volunteers
    • Its everyone's  responsibility to help  retrieve the goals from the equipment sheds and set them up.  The expectation is that all will help with this task throughout the season.  This is not the responsibilities of  the coaches.  All our coaches  have volunteered to coach and can't coach if  they are busy setting up goals.
    • In the event of a weather issue, the coaches will use their email distribution to communicate any practice cancellations.  We try to give a couple hours notice while giving mother nature every chance to cooperate.
    • New players who need uniforms can pick them up at the clubhouse this Wednesday evening between 7 and 9.
    • Our Club house is open only on Wednesdays from 7 to 9.
    • We ask that all children bring a ball to practice so that we can work on ball handling drills with them.
    • All children are required to wear shin guards and cleats on game and practice days for their safety.
    • Please click on this link Modells Sporting Goods Coupon.  You get 15% off and the club gets 5%.  So when getting those cleats and balls, pick up some sneakers for the rest of the family. :) No limit on number of purchases. Bring a friend and tell a friend.

Please Contact Us if you have any questions or concerns.

Looking forward to a great Season.

    Sincerely

    Little Neck Soccer

    Falcons came soaring at Oceanside

    02/25/2014, 10:15am EST
    By LNDYC

Congratulations to Little Neck Falcons Boys U8 for taking second place at the OUSC 47th Annual Rudy Larmonica Memorial Indoor Tournament. After a break for the winter and with 3 new players just added to the team, Little Neck Falcons fought hard for 84 minutes at the Oceanside tournament. We are very proud of our boys for this accomplishment as a new team. Besides the second place medals, our tiny goalie, a true Falcon, soared higher than expected and became the MVP Goalie of the tournament.

Congrats Falcons and good luck for the spring season.

Monsters Come Roaring Back Into Action

    10/30/2013, 8:45pm EDT
    By LNDYC

    BU16 Little Neck Monsters

The BU16 Little Neck Monsters came roaring back into action in the opening two games of the post-Columbus Day New York Premier League 1st Division season.

The Monsters opened on October 20th against the Latin Stars SA with a 1-0 victory. The lone goal was netted by Phellymain Landveld (Bayside HS, ’16) coming off the bench in the 23rd minute. The Monster back line was typical in pushing back pressure, allowing goal keeper Simon Motherway (Molloy, ’16) a shutout in his first league appearance for Little Neck.

The Monsters followed that showing with a 3-1 victory against White Plains on October 27th at Parker Stadium. The first and third goals were scored by Filip Jovanovic (Bronx Science, ’15) while Sid Tarafder (Cardozo HS, ’15) notched the middle.

The delayed season compensates for the High School season, during which most of the boys were busy representing their schools. The outdoor season will last into the winter months as the Monsters battle for the top spot.

    Columbus Day Tournament

    10/23/2013, 11:00am EDT
    By LNDYC

The Little Neck Knights continued their winning ways by taking the championship at the Columbus day tournament in Ridgefield Connecticut.

The Knights went 4-0, scoring 14 goals while conceding only 2. The boys have been working hard and training twice a week with Chris Miller and we are now starting to see all the hard work pay off.

    Tryouts GU-13 & GU-14

    7th & 8th Grade Girls

Are you looking to play high school ball?  Are your current team practices not what you are looking for?  Maybe Little Neck is for you.  Little Neck Cheetahs (GU-13) and Little Neck Leopards (GU-14) have room for a couple of committed field players and goalkeepers.

Conveniently located near the Queens/Nassau border, we train Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (attendance at 2 of the 3 is expected, the third is optional) during the season (March – June).  With Long Island Junior, LI Cup, and ENY State Cup schedules this spring, there is plenty of soccer to be played.

If you are looking to join a committed group of girls that love the game of soccer, with an eye towards playing High School ball, this may be for you.
